Lupus is a systemic (total body) disease
so it can affect any system in the body. However, The following systems are
most frequently affected by lupus symtoms:
Musculoskeletal System: The lupus symptoms that are most common are
painful joints. Muscles may become swollen which leads to exhaustion and
weakness. Arthritis, which is not normally damaging except in people who are
taking steroids, is another lupus disease symptom.
Cutaneous System: One of the lupus symptoms that more than 90% of lupus
patients complain of is skin problems. The most common of lupus symptoms is the malar blush. Hair loss is another lupus disease sign. This is
caused by discoid lupus, a red, scaly rash that most frequently presents
itself on a person's face or scalp and can cause hair loss and scars.
Cardiovascular System: One lupus
sign causes the sufferer to feel like they are having a heart attack. This
is called Pericarditis (inflammation of the heart sac). Another of the
cardiovascular lupus symtoms is growths on valves of the heart. Still other
lupus symtoms is atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

have anemia. Thrombocytopenia and leucopenia are two other symptoms.
These are low red blood cells, low platelets, and low white blood cells

Nervous System: Of the more common lupus
symptoms involving the nervous system is depression. Depression is
common because lupus affects the nervous system, people dealing with lupus

disease have a side effect of causing depression. Stroke, psychosis,
seizures and paralysis of the nerves may also be a lupus disease sign.
Other Organs: Stomach lining inflammation and extreme abdominal pain caused by infection
of abdominal fluid are lupus symptoms. Mouth and nose sores can be lupus symptoms.
The liver and the eyes are rarely affected.
It is important to be aware of lupus symptoms and to report
these to your doctor. Even if a lupus symptoms come and go, make sure your
