Perhaps the
oldest known type of arthritis, gout or gouty arthritis
has been described since Hippocrates in the 5th century
B.C. At one time, the term "gout" was used to describe
all types of arthritis.
Gout
is arthritis’ metabolic brother. It has an old-fashioned
name and an old fashioned symptom, pain, to go along
with that name. With gout (also called gouty
arthritis), high concentrations of uric acid in the
blood stream cause uric acid crystals to deposit on
joint cartilage, tendons and the surrounding tissues.
This in turn provokes an inflammatory reaction in these
tissues. Uric acid crystal deposits can also increase in
size and burst through the skin to form sinuses
discharging a chalky white material.
The
Arthritis Strategy Pack is a powerful and effective
gout cure. Buffer pH balances the internal
environment to address gout at its root while Arthritin
works on pain and inflammation control.
What is Gout and what
are the symptoms?
The
pain caused by gouty arthritis is excruciating, to
say the least. While metabolic arthritis most commonly
affects men in their 40's and 50's, women and people of
varying ages are also affected by it.
Burning pain, inflammation or swelling, stiffness and
redness, are all symptoms of the gouty arthritis.
Anything such as a blanket or even the lightest sheet
making contact with the skin could cause serious pain.
The joints containing the crystals will cause extreme
arthritic pain any time the joint, or affected area, is
moved. Most often, the big toe is affected by gouty
arthritis, although the ankle, heel, knee, instep,
elbow, wrist, spine, and fingers can also be targeted.
How is gouty arthritis treated?
Avoiding gouty arthritis will be greatly determined
by how you live your life while entering metabolic
arthritis's favorite group - the middle-aged man.
gouty arthritis is most common among wealthy
societies because of their diets rich in protein, fats,
and alcohol.
Gout and
food: One
of the treatments for gouty arthritis is to simply
restrict any purine intake. Purines are foods that are
high in compounds and are known to raise uric acid
levels and increase the risk of gouty arthritis.
Some of the foods that are high in purines include
anchovies, bouillon, consommé, broth, dried legumes,
gravy, goose, herring, organ meats, meat extracts,
mackerel, mussels, mincemeat, scallops, sardines,
shrimp, sweetbreads, baker's yeast, brewer's yeast, and
yeast extracts.
Drinking alcohol can often cause a gout attack. Eliminating alcohol intake or reducing it to
one drink a day or less, especially beer, could reduce
arthritis attacks.
Refined sugar, even white table sugar and the kind of
sugar in fruit juice can raise uric acid levels and
should all be restricted.
Cherry juice is found to help alleviate the symptoms of
gouty arthritis, and also to prevent reoccurrences. According to one study, eating
just 8 ounces of cherries or drinking an 8-ounce glass
of cherry juice prevented gout attacks.
Red sour cherries, yellow and black cherries all worked
well. Next time you feel the tingling coming on, make
sure to load yourself up with sweet and sour cherries
and treat yourself.
