Gout Symptoms, Treatment and Causes
If you adhere to a strict gout treatment diet and take the medication prescribed to you by your doctor, it’s possible to deal with, or at least prevent, an acute attack. When searching for the best gout treatment, consult with your doctor who will probably advise you to avoid aspirin when treating gout since it may worsen symptoms by raising serum uric acid levels.

In treating your gout, your doctor may prescribe colchicines. While colchicines eliminate the pain of gout, you may experience harmful side effects such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.

Another option in treating gout, which some experts claim is the best gout treatment available, is to use nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen, ibuprofen or indomethacin.

Eliminate Gout Pain - Naturally and Immediately

If you cannot tolerate other medications for gout treatment, your doctor may advise you to take corticosteroids such as prednisolone, prednisone and triamcinolone, but they are the last resort in treating gout.

Experts believe many factors, including the purine content of food, cause gout, but diet revision is not the only way of treating gout. Most dieticians may recommend a gout treatment diet that is sensitive to the fact that acidic foods and beverages such as tea, coffee should be avoided in treating gout.

In fact, if blood uric acid levels are high, you may experience an attack of gout because even just a few cups of coffee can acidify your blood and urine making your gout treatment plan ineffective.

To relieve the pain of gout, experts recommend a gout treatment diet that includes avoiding alcohol, which increases uric acid production. When treating gout, it’s important to limit your intake of foods that stimulate the production of uric acid such as anchovies, caffeine, coffee, chocolate, cola, fatty fish, shellfish, meat and meat stock, eggs and tea.

In treating gout, it’s critical to drink plenty of water to flush uric acid from your system. Some of the ideal beverages for gout treatment include herb teas such as peppermint and rosehip.

Some experts suggest cherries, which contain an enzyme that helps break down and promote the excretion of uric acid, may be useful in treating gout.

Some of the non-food gout treatment options include applying an ice pack to the painful area. In treating your gout, avoid wearing tight-fitting shoes and keep your affected joint elevated.

If following the gout treatment diet has not prevented an acute gout attack, see your doctor about medication as another way of treating gout.

Your doctor may prescribe colchicines, a medication that helps eliminate the pain of gout. It’s been used as a gout treatment option for hundreds of years. However, it’s not the best gout treatment for some people because of the side effects including nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps.

Colchine has a fairly good track record for treating gout as 75 to 95 percent of patients with acute gout attacks respond well to it, although it does come with gastrointestinal side effects. As a gout treatment drug, Colchine works by reducing the deposit of uric acid crystals that cause inflammation. Your doctor will tell you to take colchicine within 24 to 48 hours of the onset of gout symptoms.

In treating your gout, your doctor may prescribe nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen or indomethacin. However, be warned the drugs may produce serious side effects especially since people in need of gout treatment take higher dosages than in the over-the-counter formulations. Side effects include headache, diarrhea, confusion, bleeding and edema.

Your physician may have you take the drugs three or four times daily for as long as you have the symptoms that precipitated gout treatment. They are considered the best option for gout treatment because they block prostaglandins.

Another option for gout treatment is the use of corticosteroids such as prednisone, prednisolone and triamcinolone. In treating gout, your doctor may inject these steroids directly into your joint or a muscle to relieve the pain. At the same time, steroids are only a last resort in treating gout for patients who cannot tolerate other forms of medication.

Finally, remember the sooner you start your gout treatment, the sooner you will experience relief and decreased inflammation. Some experts say the best gout treatment is diet revision in combination with the use of drugs. Since gout attacks can be so painful, you will want to prevent gout by working with your doctor to find the best gout treatment diet and therapy plan.
