One
of the most common forms of arthritis is gout. Gout is
characterized by joint inflammation accompanied by
terrible pain and sometimes red, shiny skin covering the
joint. An attack of gout appears suddenly, often
overnight and most often affects the feet and ankles,
with the most common area being the ball of the large
toe. Gout can be cured by using natural products such as
cherries, charcoal, diet, avoidance of alcohol and
natural supplements like Arthritin.
The
Arthritis Strategy Pack is one of the most powerful and
effective natural cures for gout. Buffer pH balances the
internal environment to address gout at its root while
Arthritin works on pain and inflammation control.
Another natural gout cure uses the power of cherries.
People have been reporting the beneficial effects of
cherries and cherry juice as a natural gout cure. You
can use canned cherries or fresh cherries and it does
not matter if you use sour or sweet cherries. All
cherries have been reported to be a natural gout cure.
The amount of cherries to eat a day is between ten
cherries and up to one half pound. Some people also
found taking cherry juice concentrate (1 tablespoon per
day) can help cure gout. Others have reported that
drinking 1 6 oz glass of Knudsen Black Cherry Juice one
to two times per day can cure gout.
A
leek poultice can also be applied to a
gout big
toe problem. There have been numerous
instances of its effectiveness.
Another natural gout cure is charcoal poultice. Dr.
Agatha Thrash, M.D., co-founder of Uchee Pines
Institute, a non-profit health-training center in Seale,
Alabama, recommends charcoal poultice to draw toxins
away from the body. To make charcoal poultice, mix one
half cup activated powdered charcoal with a few
tablespoons flaxseed that has been ground in a blender
until it becomes meal. Then add enough warm water to
create a paste. Put paste on affected joint and cover
with cloth or plastic. The dressing should be changed
every four hours or it may be left on over night. Be
sure to avoid getting the charcoal poultice on clothing
or bed linens because it will stain.
A
charcoal bath can also be used as a natural gout cure.
Using an old basin that you don’t mind staining, mix one
half cup of charcoal powder with water until a paste is
made. Place affected foot into the basin and add water
until the foot is covered. You should soak your foot in
the charcoal bath for thirty to sixty minutes.
In
addition to the above
gout attack treatment
remedies, you can also use charcoal taken by mouth as a
natural gout cure. This works by reducing uric acid in
the blood. Dr. Thrash recommends taking one half to one
teaspoon of activated charcoal four times a day. You
should take it when you first wake up, at midmorning, at
mid-afternoon and again at bedtime.
Diet is important and can be used as a natural gout cure
as well. Purines consumed in the diet account for about
50% of the uric acid produced in the body. Therefore, a
low purine or modified purine diet may help gout
improve. The gout diet puts and emphasis on dairy
products, vegetable protein and water intake and a
decrease in high purine foods. When this diet is used,
studies have shown that gout symptoms decrease and the
sudden, painful attacks of gout can be prevented.
A
low purine diet consists of eliminating the following
high purine foods from the diet: organ meats,
sweetbreads, brains, kidney, meat gravies, meat
extracts, scallops, wild game, mackerel, herring,
anchovies and sardines. In addition, only one serving of
the following foods are allowed per day in a low purine
diet: dried beans and peas, asparagus, cauliflower,
spinach, mushrooms, poultry, meat or fish. A low purine
diet, once frequently prescribed, is not frequently used
today, however. Instead, a purine- modified diet is now
used for the treatment of gout.
A
purine-modified diet consists of eliminating extremely
high-purine foods.
Gout foods to avoid
include liver, brains, kidney and other organ meats as
well as sweetbreads. However, in a purine-modified diet,
it is ok to have some protein foods not to exceed 100
grams per day. In one ounce of meat, there are 7 grams
of protein Bread and grains have about 3 grams of
protein per serving. One serving is one slice of bread
or ½ cup of grain. Protein can be obtained by eating
milk, eggs and cheese because these foods are high in
protein and low in purines.
The easiest of
gout cures is to make
sure that you drink plenty of water. Water and other
fluids help flush out excess uric acid and help prevent
kidney stones. You should drink between six and eight
glasses of water a day. Also, make sure that you do not
use very hard water, use filtered water if possible.
Gout sufferers should also avoid alcohol because it
increases uric acid production and inhibits its
secretion.
Although it is important to reduce your weight to
prevent gout, you should avoid fad diets such as fasting
because quick weight loss causes a release of uric acid
by the cells as they break down. Try a
diet for arthritis and
gout that
encourages slow and steady weight loss.
Supplements are good to take but too much of a good
thing may actually cause gout. Do not take excess
vitamin A and niacin because these may trigger a gout
attack.
The Arthritis Strategy Pack is one of the most powerful
and effective
gout remedies
available. It is recommended to use Arthritin on a
regular basis to prevent a gout attack for occurring.
